I like to add a cocktail cherry during the holidays. I just LOVE a festive garnish. I serve my Fireball and Sprite cocktail in a highball glass, but you can also use a rocks glass.
I keep my home bar simple–and I get lots of use out of my bottle of Fireball.
What is Fireball and Sprite called?
There’s no official name for a Fireball and Sprite cocktail. It is typically referred to as a Whisky and Sprite.
I’ve heard that you can add whipped cream on top. I would sprinkle some ground nutmeg or cinnamon on the whipped cream!

Ingredients
How to make this easy cocktail? Grab these ingredients and pour them into a glass — you’re done in 1 minute!
- Fireball – Of course you’ll need Fireball whiskey.
- Sprite – You’ll need Sprite too. I use Diet Sprite which works well in my opinion.
- Ice – Any ice works. I use traditional ice cubes.
- Garnish – This is totally optional. I like a cocktail cherry or lemon peel.
The lemon-lime sweetness of the Sprite balances out the smokiness and spice of Fireball whisky.
Sprite to Fireball ratio
You can adjust the strength of this cocktail to your preferred taste.
- For a strong drink, do a 1:2 ratio – liquor to the Sprite mixer.
- For a lighter drink, do a 1:4 ratio – double the amount of mixer.
I’m a bit of a lightweight, so I like to add lots of ice and Sprite in a highball glass.
When to serve a Fireball and Sprite
Fireball and Sprite is easy to make. It’s great for spicing things up and serving as a:
- Summer drink
- Afternoon drink
- Cocktail hour drink
- Festive holiday drink
This refreshing cocktail works anytime, and a favorite among colorful characters.

Fireball and Sprite is served cold
The key to a good Fireball and Sprite is to serve it really cold. There are a few things I do to accomplish that, but it starts with storing your gin in the freezer. Fireball won’t freeze, and will be perfectly chilled for your drink.
Other ways I make my cocktail very cold:
- I mix the cold ingredients with ice cubes. This will dilute the drink slightly as the ice melts in the glass, but will keep it cool.
- I serve my Fireball and Sprite cocktail in a chilled glass. More on this ahead.
Chilling your glass quickly
I fill my glass with ice and cold water for a minute–while I gather ingredients and mix the cocktail–will chill my glass fast! I toss out the ice and water before mixing.
Fireball and Sprite
Cinnamon whisky and lemon-lime soda cocktail.
Ingredients
- 1 oz Fireball Whisky
- 4 oz Sprite
Instructions
- Fill a rocks glass with ice
- Add the whisky, then fill to the top with Sprite.
- Garnish with an optional cherry!
Notes
- Instead of ice, pour the fireball and Sprite over a scoop of vanilla ice cream to make a boozy float.
- Garnish with a cocktail cherry, orange slice, or cinnamon stick to get extra fancy. I like to use a lemon wedge.
- Experiment with adding liqueurs, like amaretto.

This simple drink is just the thing when you don’t have the time or ingredients to make another drink. Fireball and Sprite is a delicious cocktail combination that’s so easy to make!
You can adjust the ratio depending on how strong you like your drink.
What if I don’t have any Sprite?
If you’re all out of Sprite, there are several soda substitutions, including:
- Sierra Mist
- 7-Up
- Fresca
- Store brand lemon lime soda
- Mountain Dew will be a lot more intense/sweet and may mask the strong Fireball taste a bit.
- I sometimes use a lemon or lime seltzer water–you can stir in some simple syrup!
