Tequila and Sprite Cocktail Recipe
I think that a Tequila and Sprite mixed drink makes for an easy yet refreshing cocktail. This is how I make the very best version of this two-ingredient drink.
I love serving Tequila and Sprite in the summer on a hot day. Or during the holidays with a festive cranberries as a garnish. It’s a truly tasty drink!
What is a Tequila and Sprite cocktail?
The Tequila and Sprite is one of the easiest tequila drinks EVER! It may sound low-brow, but it’s legit. This 2-ingredient mixed drink is usually 1 part tequila to 4 parts Sprite–depending on how strong you like your drink. It can be garnished with a lime wedge. I like add extra lime for more flavor.

Tequila and Sprite tips
Here’s how to take this drink to the next level!
- The 1:4 pour creates a Tequila and Sprite. Serve over plenty of ice in a low ball or highball glass!
- I pour a tequila that I don’t mind drinking straight–such as Casamigos. But a budget tequila like Lunazul Blanco works too in my opinion.
- I recommend putting the tequila in the freezer for ultimate chill—I find that this helps the ice melt slower.
- I always make sure everything is ice cold (even the glass)
- Don’t skimp on the lime wedge!
The Tequila and Sprite ratio
Tequila has a subtle flavor, so you’ll taste more of the Sprite than the alcohol. Here’s the right Tequila to Sprite ratio:
- 1 part tequila to 4 parts Sprite OR
- 1 oz tequila to 4 oz Sprite
Tequila is a STRONG spirit, so I often add more Sprite.
You can adjust the ratio depending on how strong you like your drink.
Tip: Add lime for complexity!
For the BEST Tequila and Sprite, I muddle lime or lemon to step it up!
I recommend muddling 2 lime wedges in the glass first. The drink begs for the brightness from lime to cut the Sprite’s sweetness! You can also use lemon, if that’s all you have.
Why I love this recipe!
- Zesty Flavors! Limes definitely make the list of my favorite summertime flavors!
- Easy To Make! Simply combine the ingredients, pour, and enjoy in just 1 minute!
- Smooth! The strong tequila flavor is somewhat hidden by Sprite’s lemon-lime soda taste!
- Large Batch! Depending on the size of my pitcher, I can easily scale it to yield more servings!
Ingredient notes
This Tequila and Sprite recipe comes together as easily as it goes down! Making a second or even third batch is a breeze! To make this cocktail, you’ll need:
- Tequila – I recommend a budget brand such as Lunazul Blanco or Jose Cuervo tequila–no need for expensive liquor in my drinks!
- Sprite – Bubbly, lemon-lime sweetness. I use diet Sprite or Sprite Zero.
- Ice – Keeps tequila and Sprite cocktails perfectly chilled!
- Lime – Slice up fresh lime wedges to muddle and garnish the glass!
Tequila and Sprite is served cold
The key to a good Tequila and Sprite is to serve it really cold. There are a few things I do to accomplish that, but it starts with storing your tequila in the freezer. Tequila won’t freeze, and will be perfectly chilled for your drink.
Other ways I make my cocktail very cold:
- I mix the cold ingredients with ice cubes. This will dilute the drink slightly as the ice melts in the glass, but will keep it cool.
- I serve my Tequila and Sprite cocktail in a chilled glass. More on this ahead.
Chilling your glass quickly
Filling your glass with ice and cold water for a minute–while gathering ingredients will chill your glass fast! I toss out the ice and water before mixing.
