1. Paloma

I believe the better the reposado, the better the Paloma. Patrón reposado is the star of this cocktail!

Easy Recipe: Mix 2 oz reposado tequila and 3 oz grapefruit juice in a shaker with ice; strain into a glass filled with ice. Top off with soda water.

2. Rosita

This modern Reposado tequila cocktail is a blend of bitter and sweet flavors that goes beyond a Negroni riff.

Easy Recipe: In a mixing glass filled with ice, combine 1 1/2 oz reposado tequila, 3/4 oz Martini Bianco sweet vermouth, 3/4 oz dry vermouth, and 1/4 oz Campari. Stir until chilled and strain into a coupe glass. Garnish with a grapefruit twist. Enjoy your Rosita Cocktail!

3. Cadillac Margarita

When I worked at that sports bar years ago, this was my favorite margarita on the menu. I upped my game and used ingredients I love the most in this recipe.

Easy Recipe: In a shaker filled with ice, combine 1 1/2 oz reposado tequila, 1/2 oz Grand Marnier, 1 oz fresh lime juice, and 1/2 oz agave nectar. Shake until chilled and strain into a salt-rimmed glass filled with ice. Garnish with a lime wheel.

4. Old-Fashioned

Just like the classic old-fashioned, this reposado old-fashioned is STRONG! A double shot of reposado tequila is the main ingredient.

Easy Recipe: In a mixing glass, combine 2 oz reposado tequila, 1/4 oz agave nectar, and 2 dashes of Angostura bitters. Add ice and stir until chilled. Strain into a rocks glass filled with ice. Garnish with an orange peel and a cherry.

5. Manhattan

Swap in Reposado for the whiskey in this spin on the classic drink! The Repo shines in this cocktail (use orange bitters.) I’ve experimented using Amaro Nonino instead of sweet vermouth and it still holds up.

Easy Recipe: In a mixing glass, combine 2 oz reposado tequila, 1 oz sweet vermouth, and 2 dashes of Angostura bitters. Add ice and stir until chilled. Strain into a coupe glass and garnish with a cherry.

6. Mexican Martinez

You can make a Martinez with reposado tequila in lieu of gin. The Mexican Martinez is a bold blend of Reposado tequila and classic Martini ingredients James Bond would have ordered.

Easy Recipe: In a mixing glass filled with ice, combine 1 1/2 oz reposado tequila, 1 oz sweet vermouth, 1/2 oz orange curaçao, and 2 dashes of Angostura bitters. Stir until chilled and strain into a coupe glass. Garnish with a lemon wedge or twist.

The best Bloody Maria I’ve ever tasted was with a Don Julio tequila. It’s a Bloody Mary with a Mexican twist, featuring reposado tequila and spicy tomato juice.

Easy Recipe: In a shaker filled with ice, combine 2 oz Don Julio tequila, 4 oz tomato juice, 1/2 oz lemon juice, 1/2 oz Worcestershire sauce, and a dash of hot sauce. Shake until chilled and strain into a highball glass filled with ice. Garnish with a celery stalk and a lime wedge.

This tequila cocktail is made with Hiatus Reposado. Serve in a coupe or martini glass for an elegant sip.

14. Blood Orange Margarita

You know I love all citrus-y drinks, so I fell in love with this blood orange and Reposado cocktail. I had to share this incredibly underrated recipe!

Easy Recipe: Shake 2 oz reposado tequila, 1 oz blood orange juice, ½ oz lime juice, and simple syrup to taste with ice; strain into a chilled glass. Garnish as desired.

15. Oaxacan Dead

I LOVE how reposado and aged rum go together in this version of the tiki Zombie cocktail!

Easy Recipe: Shake ¾ oz reposado tequila, ¾ oz aged Jamaican rum, ¾ oz fresh lime juice, ½ oz velvet falernum, ½ oz Donn’s mix (1:1 grapefruit juice to cinnamon syrup), 1 tsp mezcal, 1 tsp grenadine, and 1 dash Angostura bitters in a shaker with ice. Strain into a decorative mug and garnish with a mint sprig, lemon wheel, and freshly grated cinnamon.

16. Quarantiki

By now, we’ve all heard of the quarantini. While I think there may be an actual drink to go along with it, people are using the term to describe any cocktail that they cobble together while under quarantine. I wanted in on the fun.

Easy Recipe: Stir 2 oz tequila, 1 oz Velvet Falernum, 1 oz freshly squeezed lime juice, and 2 dashes of Angostura bitters in a glass over crushed ice. Garnish with a lime wedge

17. Matador

I’m mean, I love this reposado, vermouth and curaçao cocktail. Tequila is the most prominent of the three with the notes of agave and oak.

Easy Recipe: Shake 1 ½ oz reposado tequila, ¾ oz orange liqueur, and ¼ oz dry vermouth with ice. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass and garnish with an orange slice.

18. Mexican Mule

I am a huge fan of ginger beer, a key part in this Reposado Mexican Mule. I’ve always had a soft spot for drinks with plenty of lime juice too!

Easy Recipe: Mix 2 oz reposado tequila, ½ oz lime juice, and top with ginger beer in a copper mug filled with ice. Garnish with a lime wedge.

19. Juan Daly

Then I learned about this reposado drink, a combination of iced tea and lemonade–I didn’t get the appeal until I tried it. I kick it up a notch with Código 1530 Reposado and a mint leaf garnish.

Easy Recipe: Shake 1 ½ oz tequila, 2 oz fresh lemonade, and 2 oz iced tea with ice; strain into a glass filled with fresh ice. Garnish with a lemon wedge or apple slices.

20. Carrot King

I like to start my week with a kick of flavor. The Carrot King is a blend of Reposado that holds up well to carrot juice, ginger syrup, and hot sauce.

Easy Recipe: Build in a Collins glass: add 1 ½ oz reposado tequila, 1 oz fresh carrot juice, ¾ oz fresh lemon juice, and ½ oz ginger syrup over ice. Garnish with carrot and celery sticks.

21. Mount Fuji

The Mount Fuji Reposado cocktail is a refreshing sour variation where apple is the main flavor note.

Easy Recipe: Shake 1 ½ oz reposado tequila, ½ oz pear liqueur, ½ oz lemon juice, 3 oz Fuji apple juice, and 1 tsp cane syrup with ice; strain into a Collins glass over ice. Garnish with thin apple slices.

🧊 Reposado cocktails are best served cold

The key to making the very best reposado cocktails is to serve them really cold. There are a few things I do to accomplish that, more on this ahead.

  • Freeze your reposado. It starts with storing my reposado in the freezer. Tequila won’t freeze, and will be perfectly chilled for your drink. Use this bottle chiller if you’re in a hurry.
  • Chilled glass. I simply fill my glass with ice and cold water for a minute–while I gather ingredients and mix my drink! Or use an electric ice chiller to frost your martini glass fast!
  • Clear ice. I prefer clear ice–it looks and tastes better! I bought this clear ice tray to test it against my clear ice machine, it works great!
