First up on my list is the most popular cocktail in the world. My tried-and-true recipe ensures a great Margarita every time! Blend with ice for my all-time favorite frozen cocktail.

Recipe: Shake 1½ oz tequila, 1 oz orange liqueur, and ¾ oz lime juice with ice. Strain into a salt-rimmed glass over ice. Garnish with a lime slice.

2. Manhattan

5. Moscow Mule

Follow my step-by-step Moscow Mule recipe and make the classic cocktail at home in three minutes!

Recipe: Fill a copper mug with ice. Pour 2 oz vodka and ½ oz fresh lime juice over the ice. Top with 4 oz ginger beer and gently swirl once to mix. Garnish with a lime wedge.

6. Mai Tai

The Mai Tai is a tiki cocktail that mixes smooth rum with citrus and sweet orgeat syrup.

Recipe: Shake 1½ oz white rum, ¾ oz orange curaçao, ¾ oz fresh lime juice, and ½ oz orgeat with ice. Strain into a double rocks glass filled with ice. Float ½ oz dark rum over the top by pouring slowly over the back of a spoon. Garnish with a lime wheel and a mint sprig.

7. Mimosa

Mimosas are perfect for your next Sunday brunch.

Recipe: Pour 3 oz chilled Champagne into a flute, filling the glass about halfway. Top with 3 oz chilled orange juice. Serve immediately.

8. Mint Julep

This classic bourbon cocktail is perfect for warm weather. You’ll sip it all summer-long!

Recipe: Muddle 8 mint leaves with ¼ oz simple syrup in a julep cup or rocks glass. Add 2 oz bourbon, then pack the glass tightly with crushed ice. Stir until the outside of the glass is frosted. Top with more crushed ice to form an ice dome. Garnish with a mint sprig.

9. Mudslide

You are only 5 minutes away from this delicious summer sipper. 

Recipe: Shake 1 oz vodka, 1 oz coffee liqueur, 1 oz Baileys Irish cream, and 1½ oz heavy cream with ice. Strain into a chilled fizz glass or coupe. Garnish with chocolate shavings.

10. Michelada

A classic Mexican cocktail– I like mine spicy!

Recipe: Build 2 oz tomato juice, ½ oz lime juice, hot sauce, and Mexican lager in a salt-rimmed pint glass over ice. Stir gently. Garnish with a lime wedge.

11. Mind Eraser

The Mind Eraser is a refreshing cocktail! It’s not as strong as its name suggests.

Recipe: Build 1 oz vodka, 1 oz coffee liqueur, and 2 oz club soda in a rocks glass over ice. Serve with a straw.

12. Madras

This Mexican Madras cocktail that starts with M is the perfect combo of sweet OJ and sour cranberry juice.

Recipe: Build 1½ oz vodka, 4 oz cranberry juice, and 1 oz orange juice in a tall glass over ice. Garnish with an orange slice.

13. Mad Eye Martini

The Mad Eye Martini is a spooky Halloween drink that begins with M–it’s garnished with a creepy eyeball.

Recipe: Shake 1 oz vodka, ½ oz Hpnotiq, and 2 oz lychee juice with ice. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a lychee stuffed with ¼ tsp red fruit preserves and a blueberry for the eyeball.

14. Martinez

The Martinez is a classic cocktail from the 1800s.

Recipe: Stir 1½ oz gin, 1½ oz sweet vermouth, ¼ oz maraschino liqueur, and 2 dashes orange bitters with ice. Strain into a coupe glass. Garnish with a orange twist.

15. Midori Sour

Here’s how I make the Midori Sour–a bright green drink that starts with M with a zesty melon flavor!

Recipe: Combine 1 oz Midori, 1 oz vodka, 1/2 oz lemon juice, and 1/2 oz lime juice over ice, then top with club soda. Stir and garnish with a cocktail cherry or lime slice.

16. Metropolitan

This citrusy Metropolitan is a sophisticated riff on the Cosmopolitan cocktail.

Recipe: Shake 2 oz brandy, 1 oz sweet vermouth, and ¼ oz simple syrup with ice. Strain into a coupe glass. Garnish with a cocktail cherry or lemon twist.

17. Macuá

The Macuá is the national drink of Nicaragua. It was created by a pediatrician and is named after a tropical bird native to the country.

Recipe: Shake 1 1/2 oz white rum, 1 oz guava juice, 1/2 oz orange juice, 1/2 oz lemon juice, and 1/2 oz simple syrup with ice. Strain into a tall glass over ice. Garnish with an orange slice.

18. Malecon

This drink that begins with M is named after the Malecón–a beachfront avenue in Cuba.

Recipe: Shake 1 2⁄3 oz light rum, 1/2 oz ruby port, 1/3 oz oloroso sherry, 1 oz lime juice, 1/2 oz cane syrup, and 1 dash Creole bitters with ice. Strain into a coupe glass.

19. Mango Sour

The Mango is a tropical-inspired coconut mango cocktail. It’s delicious, fruit-forward, and refreshing! 

Recipe: Stir 1 cup mango nectar, 3/4 cup vodka, 1/2 cup lemon juice, and 3 tbsp sugar until combined, then chill. Serve over ice and garnish with lemon slices or diced mango if desired.

20. Matador

The Matador is a strong tequila cocktail with a sweet and sour taste, thanks to pineapple and lime juice.

Recipe: Shake 4 oz tequila, 4 oz pineapple juice, 2 oz lime juice, and 2 tsp simple syrup with ice, then strain into two tulip glasses filled with ice. Garnish each glass with 1–2 pineapple wedges

21. Mauresque

Recipe: Pour 1 oz absinthe and 2⁄3 oz orgeat syrup into a Collins glass, then add ice. Serve with 4 oz chilled water on the side for the drinker to dilute to taste.

22. Mezcalita

My easy mezcalita cocktail recipe wouldn’t be complete without a spicy, salted rim. Yum!

Recipe: Rim a rocks glass with Tajín or chili-salt, fill with ice, then shake 1 1/2 oz mezcal, 2 oz orange juice, and 1 oz lime juice with ice. Strain into the glass and garnish with a lime wedge.

Spicy Salt Rim: Rim a rocks glass with Tajín Clásico Seasoning or a mix of 2 parts kosher salt and 1 part chili powder. Use a lime wedge to wet the rim, then dip the glass into the salt mixture.

23. Mexican Martini

This classic Mexican Martini cocktail is imbued with Southern flair.

Recipe: Shake 3 oz reposado tequila, 1.5 oz Cointreau, 1.5 oz lime juice, 0.5 oz olive brine, and 0.3 oz orange juice with ice, then strain into two martini glasses rimmed with salt. Garnish each with a lime wedge and jalapeno slices.

24. Miami Iced Tea

If you LOVE iced tea cocktails like I do–my Miami Iced Tea recipe is a must try!

Recipe: Pour 1 oz vodka, 1 oz rum, 1 oz gin, 1 oz triple sec, 1 oz peach schnapps, 2 oz sour mix, and 1 oz cranberry juice into a Collins glass filled with ice. Top with lemon-lime soda and garnish with a lemon wedge.

25. Mismo

Discover how to make the Lo Mismo cocktail using white rum and club soda in just 1 minute.

Recipe: Pour 2 oz light white rum into a glass filled with ice, then top with soda water. Serve immediately to avoid over-dilution.

26. Missouri Mule

This bourbon drink that starts with the letter ‘M’ was created for President Harry S. Truman more than 75 years ago.

Recipe: Stir 1 oz bourbon, 1 oz applejack or apple brandy, ½ oz Campari, and ½ oz Cointreau with ice, then strain into a chilled cocktail glass. No garnish needed.

27. Mojito Blanco

Lime & mint are like the PB&J of mixed drinks. I don’t really have to explain this.

Recipe: Muddle 6 mint leaves with ½ oz simple syrup and ½ oz lime juice in a tall glass. Add 2 oz white rum and ice, top with club soda. Garnish with mint and lime.

28. Monaco

This sweet and pretty Monaco cocktail is popular in France. I’m not a beer person, but I like this drink. I use about 1/4 teaspoon grenadine, but you can use more, depending on how sweet you like it.

Recipe: Pour equal parts lager and lemon-lime soda into a tall glass, then add a dash of grenadine. Serve cold.

29. Monkey Gland

The Monkey Gland cocktail will quickly become your favorite. It’s fantastic.

Recipe: Rinse a cocktail glass with absinthe, then shake 2 oz gin, 1 oz orange juice, and a splash of grenadine with ice. Strain into the glass. Garnish with an orange twist.

30. Moonwalk

The head barman at the Savoy Hotel in London invented this citrus-y champagne cocktail to commemorate the Apollo 11 moon landing in 1969.

Recipe: Drop a sugar cube into a flute glass, soak with 3 dashes grapefruit bitters and 2 dashes orange flower water, then pour 5⁄6 oz Grand Marnier over it. Top with 3 oz brut champagne, garnish with orange zest twist (spray & discard) and a quarter orange slice on the rim.

31. Mr. Bali Hai

Here’s how to make the best Mr. Bali Hai tiki cocktail.

Recipe: Shake 1.5 oz Jamaican aged rum, 1 oz light rum, 0.75 oz coffee liqueur, 1.5 oz pineapple juice, 1 oz lemon juice, and 0.33 oz cane syrup with ice, then strain into a tiki mug or Collins glass filled with crushed ice. Garnish with a pineapple wedge and mint sprigs.

32. Mulled Wine (Glögg)

Glögg is Swedish infused wine served during Christmas. Traditionally this drink that starts with M is set on fire so the sugar granules dissolve.

Recipe: Toast 2 cinnamon sticks, 1 sliced 2-inch ginger piece, 8 cloves, 10 crushed cardamom pods, and peel from 1 orange. Add 1 cup sugar and 1 cup water, simmer, then add 1 bottle dry red wine, 1 cup ruby port, up to 1 cup vodka or aquavit, 1/2 cup raisins, and 1/2 cup slivered almonds. Strain and serve warm in mugs.

33. My Fair Lady

The My Fair Lady cocktail was invented in the 1950’s in London to coincide with the musical of the same name–based on the play Pygmalion.

Recipe: Shake 1 2/3 oz dry gin, 1/3 oz violette liqueur, 1/3 oz simple syrup, 2/3 oz lemon juice, 1 whole strawberry, and 1 egg white with ice, then strain into a coupe glass. Garnish with two edible flowers.

34. Maiden’s Prayer

You can make the Maiden’s Prayer cocktail after a quick trip to the market. The ingredients are dry gin, Cointreau, lemon juice and orange juice. That’s it!

Recipe: Shake 1 oz dry gin, 1 oz Cointreau, ½ oz lemon juice, and ½ oz orange juice with ice. Strain into a coupe glass. Garnish with an orange twist.

35. Manderine Old Fashioned

I can’t help feeling distinguished when drinking an Old Fashioned c ocktail–this one with mandarin orange is delish!

Recipe: Pour ¾ oz Mandarine Napoleon, 1⅓ oz Michter’s Bourbon Whiskey, and 2 dashes Angostura bitters into a rocks glass. Add ice cubes and stir for 3 minutes. Garnish with an orange peel.

36. Maneater

This drink that starts with M is a dangerously easy gin-based Tiki concoction. Cheers!

Recipe: Shake 1½ oz gin, ½ oz apricot brandy, ½ oz orange liqueur, ¾ oz lime juice, 1½ oz mango juice, 1 oz pineapple juice, ½ oz orgeat, and 3 dashes Tiki bitters with ice. Strain into a Tiki mug filled with crushed ice, garnish with dried citrus, add a spent lime half filled with ovenproof rum, light it, and dust with ground cinnamon.

37. Mandeville

The Mandeville is a crowd pleasing 5-ingredient shake and strain recipe.

Recipe: Shake 1 oz light rum, 1 oz dark rum, 1 tsp anisette, ½ oz lemon juice, and ½ tsp grenadine syrup with ice. Strain into an old-fashioned glass almost filled with ice cubes. Top with 1 oz Coca-Cola and stir well.

38. Manana Margarita

The Manana Margarita is served the day before Cinco de Mayo. 

Recipe: Shake 1½ oz Corazon silver tequila, 1 oz Gran Gala orange liqueur, 1 oz lime juice, and ½ oz agave nectar with ice. Strain into a salt-rimmed cocktail glass.

39. Mang Martini

The Mango Martini is sweet, tart, and fruity!

Recipe: Shake 1½ oz mango puree or juice, 2 oz vodka, ½ oz Cointreau or triple sec, ½ oz lime juice, and 1 tsp simple syrup with ice. Strain into a martini glass with a sugar rim.

40. Manhasset

A tip on how you can make the Manhasset cocktail at home–use your favorite whiskey, just like I do.

Recipe: Shake 1½ oz rye whiskey, ½ oz dry vermouth, ½ oz sweet vermouth, and ½ oz lemon juice with ice. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

41. Manhattan Beach Julep

The Manhattan Beach Julep is a New York variant of the classic Mint Julep of Kentucky Derby fame.

Recipe: Shake 1½ oz bourbon, ½ oz green crème de menthe, ½ oz lime juice, and 1 tsp sugar with ice. Strain into a Collins glass filled with ice, top with club soda, and garnish with mint.

42. Manuka Hot Toddy

The Manuka Hot Toddy is a delicious drink that starts with M that’s also Grandma’s secret home remedy for colds.

Recipe: Whisk 0.5 oz Manuka honey and 0.85 oz Scotch whisky in a heatproof glass. Add 1 star anise, 1 cinnamon stick, 0.08 oz vanilla extract, 1 slice lemon, and 6.75 oz warm water. Squeeze the lemon, drop it in, and stir until the honey melts.
